3. Avoid Distracters And Time Wasters To Stay Focused

Sometimes, an unpleasant situation may seem an emergency and can distract us. At that time we need to analyze the situation and should not respond to it leaving our main task. Most of the time they are just distracters that will resolve themselves on their own in the time being.

Inefficient meetings, unnecessary interruption of colleagues, phone calls, and many other distractions, can be the cause of losing focus and can take more of your time and energy to perform.

To stay focused, you need to eliminate these kinds of distractions. If it not possible to eliminate them permanently, try to reduce them for better results.

To avoid distractions and stay more focused you can apply these basic strategies:

  • Moving to a quiet area to do your important task.
  • Turning off notifications on your phone or turning your phone off all together, or Put your phone away from your working space if you don’t need a phone during work.
  • Closing the door to your office or of the room you work in. At the same time, you can tell people around you not to distract you for a period of time
  • Closing out of programs or apps that aren’t essential on your computer
  • If you have a habit of checking Facebook or WhatsApp during your work, you can try some social media blocker apps like; Freedom and AppBlock.

In addition, maintain cleanliness at your desk. Remove unnecessary things from it. Arrange all the required things before starting a task even a water-bottle can decrease the chances of distraction. Get a good chair if you have sitting work.

So, to stay focused keep yourself off from distraction and time killers.

4. Take Breaks, Rather Working For Longer Hours

When your energy seems fading, take a small break, go for a short walk, run for a while. You can also do some physical activity, or do whatever helps you to regain your energy level up.

Your energy follows a constant pattern: it goes up, and after working for a couple of hours it goes down. And when your energy starts going down, so does your focus, your concentration, your willpower, and even your mood.

If you need to do a certain task which is big enough and pushing you away from taking action. Divide your big task into smaller parts and set time duration for each small task. Doing this makes your work easy and helps you to maintain your energy level and focus.

When you are at the break, don’t think about work just relax and give yourself a physical and mental break. Don’t think about what you were doing before or what you’re going to be doing next during your break time.

Taking a short break will refresh your mental and physical status and you will able to maintain a sharper focus when you resume your work.

5. Balance Your Diet And Do Exercise

You can take coffee or other caffeinated beverages in small doses, which may help you to regain your focus. But, don’t take too much of it, else you’ll find yourself feeling anxious or nervous, which generally reduces your power of concentration.

Instead of eating a heavy meal, add healthy foods like fresh fruit and vegetables in your lunch. It is good for health and helps you to become more focused and productive.

Again, remember, in hunger, you will not able to maintain your focus and if you take access to food, you will feel sleepy. So, take your food in a moderate amount and don’t delay or skip it to keep yourself working and your energy levels up.

Furthermore, drink water as per the need and include physical exercise in your daily routine. Make this part of your good habits, so that you don’t feel like you need to force yourself to manage them.

6. Get Enough Sleep

It is true that sleep deprivation affects your overall health; it is also true that lack of sleep affects your clarity of thinking and decision making. Apparently, you will lose your ability to be energetic and productive.

Not getting enough sleep can negatively impact both your short and long term memory, which is a direct loss of your ability to concentrate.

Getting enough sleep is important to repair your body and get it ready for the next day. The more energetic your body is the more focused your mind will be.

Therefore, it is essential to have a good sleep to be focused and productive.

7. Maintain A Healthy Body

A disease-free body makes a powerful mind. If you are suffering from any ailment, it is not possible to focus on anything you do.

Keep your body healthy, or see the doctor if you are suffering from any ailment, else it will distract you from your work and make you less productive.

Make a priority to take care of your body so that it will help you to keep your mind healthy.

9. Keep Visualizing Your Goals

Keep reminding your goals will motivate you and help you to be more focused. Whenever you don’t feel like doing something important, remind your goals which will drive energy force inside you and help you to regenerate the power of concentration.

Have a transparent vision of what actually your life will look like, get involved in it emotionally. Do it for five minutes whenever you fall under the lower energy and lack of focus. It will help you to find a way of reaching your goals and you will stay focus on it.

10. Know Your Specific Time

Know the best part of your time when you live with the peak of the energy and focus. Most people have their morning time with freshness and energy and it decreases as the day passes on. Do your most important task at that time with a fresh mind and full energy.

Later on, you can do other repetitive tasks that require less focus and energy.

11. Add A Dose Of Meditation In Your Routine

Unfortunately, if you’re constantly distracted or trying to manage to multitask within the same span of time, you’re preventing yourself from delivering the best possible results at a limited period of time.

If you often get worried about the concentration and think that your focus doesn’t stay where it supposed to be?  Or you are not able to control the flood of your thoughts even when working on an essential task. You might observe that your mind keeps moving with your past experience and future problems.

Don’t worry; you are not the only person with this challenge.

Yes, this short period of shifting thoughts impacts the productivity and quality of your work, but don’t be stressed about it, here is the psychological method of mindfulness, which will help you to manage the flood of your own thoughts and put them at the right place at the right time.

Mindful means keeping an eye on your thought process. In mindfulness, we pay deep attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them whether they are wrong or right.

By practicing this method of meditation you will able to manage your thoughts and direct them at the place you want. You can do this by practicing breathing techniques, meditation, and yoga.

Meditation kills anxiety, stress, and strengthens our memory power. So, it is best to include a dose of mediation in our daily life.

Finally, I would say, stop multitasking to increase your concentration power. Also, start taking care of your body and mind, because these are the only assets you have which you can use to achieve anything in this world.
